Skewb Notation Guide

The WCA Skewb notation is the official notation set out by the World Cubing Association and is the correct notation for all official WCA scrambles.

In the images below, the part of the puzzle that is coloured is the part of the puzzle that you twist for that notation.

Beginner Notation

In the beginner method we just need to know 2 moves, L and R. It's a little different than that of the advanced notation but we will get to that later.

L / L'

L is a clockwise rotation as if you were looking at that face and L' is an anti-clockwise rotation.

R / R'

R is a clockwise rotation as if you were looking at that face and R' is an anti-clockwise rotation.

Official WCA Notation

This is the official Skewb notation as set out by the WCA. There are 8 possible move in the official WCA notation. These are shown below.

L / L'

R / R'

U / U'

B / B'
