What is a Megaminx?
The Megaminx was first designed by Uwe Meffert back in the 1980's and was know as the Magic Dodecohedron. The Megaminx can be closely related to a 12-sided Rubik's Cube, and although you do use many of the same algorithms, the real difference comes in when you get to the last layer, which will require completely new algorithms.
Megaminx Shape Mods
Let's dive into the colourful world of the Megaminx shapemods. From the every popular Kibiminx to the ultra massive Examinx.
Kibiminx
Whilst there are plenty of different brands now creating the Kibiminx puzzle, my personal favourite is the QiYi Kibiminx.
The Kibiminx can be thought of as a 2x2 version of the Megaminx puzzle, requiring many of the same algorithms and being a darn sight easier to solve than that of its bigger brother.
Teraminx
The Teraminx was the largest NxN Minx type puzzle for quite some time, its now a baby compared to some of the larger ones likes the Petaminx and Examinx, however, it still makes a great addition to a serious cubers collection.
Here we showcase the popular ShengShou Teraminx, an amazing step up from the Megaminx and well worth the investment. There are some really wicked patterns you can make on the Teraminx (coming soon, hopefully).
